Iontophoresis
Iontophoresis is a non-invasive technology that uses a mild controlled electrical current and polarity to support the movement of compatible ionised topical ingredients across the treatment area. It can be incorporated into selected facial or scalp protocols when suitable products and treatment goals are identified during consultation.

A controlled direct electrical current is applied through suitable electrodes or a treatment handpiece together with a compatible ionised product. Electrical polarity is selected according to the formulation and protocol. Intensity is increased gradually and kept within a comfortable treatment range.
- Positive-polarity protocol — Uses positive polarity with a compatible formulation when specified by the treatment protocol.
- Negative-polarity protocol — Uses negative polarity with a compatible formulation when specified by the treatment protocol.

The treatment area is assessed and cleansed, and the practitioner reviews suitability before selecting the formulation, polarity and electrical settings. Only products compatible with the protocol should be used.
A compatible product is applied and the treatment handpiece or electrodes deliver a mild controlled current. Clients may notice light tingling while intensity is adjusted gradually for comfort.
The remaining product is incorporated according to the treatment protocol. Mild temporary tingling or redness may occur, and appropriate finishing skincare or scalp care is applied where required.
